Today in class we have been asked to ‘Do the thing’. This means to re create one of the ‘How to’ video’s on Youtube. Or at least proove that we have learnt how to do it. After a search of the thousands of video’s out there, I have discovered one where you can make a fire, using only a battery and some wire wool.

Today Christine showed us all we need to know and more about seesmic.tv

This is a site where you can post an online video conversation and people can view your video and then reply to it with another video. Ay welcome to the 21st Century.

At first this was a bit scary as we had seen most of the videos which were uploaded were done by people in there own homes and from what i saw there was good meaning for that. So for everyone in the class to have to record their own video was slightly nerve-racking. But as soon as we got into we started having too much fun with are silly faces and fun time antics.

Then it was seemic that let us down, we couldn’t hook up our web cams directly to the site, so we were having to record on photo booth then upload. The next problem came about as soon as the other one started. You see seesmic was not allowing our videos to be uploaded as .mov’s. I’m not the king of internet video’s but I know a .mov is pretty much universal. So after wasting time converting the files, I had already gone to facebook where you can do the same and much much more.

Sorry seesmic, its over.

With websites such as wefeelfine.org, the emotional web is definately arising, whether we like it or not.

I’ve recently discovered that even if you delete something from the internet it never gets deleted.

It will stay forever on the amazon server, which can still be accessed if you have the url.

Using an emotional web doesn’t seen like such a good idea to me, I just don’t see the point as I’m not really bothered about the whole world’s emotions. Maybe at a push I care about friends and family, so why would I want to whole worlds emotions at my finger tips. Too many emotions for me.

I believe it is an age group thing, as I can’t really see older people using the emotional web. Although I do feel in the future it could have success. This is becuase if you go see an older relative, most of them like to moan, so when we are older, we could also gain this characteristic. If we all moaned together all our emotions would seem neutral.

Emotions are private feelings, which you share only with people you know, becuase they generally are the only people that care about your emotions. I think it is fair enough to split the emotions into different categories, becuase people who are interested in the emotional web like to seperate things into different categories as though it makes a difference. Maybe this will make girls realise that all they ever do is moan.

At the end of the day, your privacy is invaded as soon as you uploaded to the web, and if anyone wants to know I’ll tell them. I’m feeling fine.
